Fly into Phoenix. We will pick you up and assemble at the airport.

Check into Red Roof Inn, Tempe, AZ. 480-449-3205.

Equipment shakedown and then go out for dinner in town.

All the items that you won't bring on the trail will be set aside. You'll also have an opportunity to take one last shower as this is your last stop in civilization for about a week.

Drive to Picketpost trailhead, storing non-essential items in the car. (Thieves take note!)

Hike 6.6 Miles, Camp

Hike 6.0 miles.

Hike 4.6 relatively easy miles.

Hike 10.2 long strenuous miles. No water is available in this stretch.

Hike About 7 miles to any of a number of springs.

There are several springs on the trail in the Four Peaks Wilderness. If the trail seems dry, we may stop at Granite Spring, otherwise, we'll look for water past Buckhorn Mountain
